Thank you, everyone, for wearing your mask! We appreciate you working with us, and we're grateful to see COVID-19 being taken seriously.
I know it might seem unnecessary to wear a mask if you think you're healthy. Last Saturday, I was getting ready to paint a family of three boys. Neither of them had a mask, but fortunately, their dad was receptive to buying one from us for a dollar.
As the son was putting the mask on, his mom told me "not to worry" because "he's fine."
This makes me concerned because it shows a lack of consideration for the safety of myself, my worker(s), those around her, and even her own family. My own health aside, I have family members who are on prescribed immunosuppressant drugs. I can't take this lightly, or else I risk unnecessary health complications for them.
Even if you appear healthy, you might be an asymptomatic carrier of the virus. When I'm face painting you or your kiddo, we're in close contact with each other. And if you know me, you know I love hearing stories and I love joking! So when we're talking, we could be unknowingly putting saliva into the air. These saliva droplets could land in the mouths of us, or people nearby. And since aerosolized coronavirus can remain in the air for up to three hours, it can be inhaled through our nose or mouth. That's why it's important to wear a mask that covers from your nose to your chin.
Wearing your mask protects other people from you. We're going to do our part in making sure you're safe. Please give us that same courtesy.
